  • Institutional cooperation between the Authority, the Governorate, and government entities to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship, and highlight available opportunities for developing small enterprises

Under the auspices of Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA), headed by Dr. Eslam Azzam and in the presence and participation of Eng. Ayman Attia, Governor of Alexandria, is organizing the "Capacity Building to Enhance Development – Know to Benefit" conference in Alexandria Governorate tomorrow, Thursday, October 15, to introduce non-banking financial activities and maximize the benefit of the Alexandrian business community and citizens from these activities.

This comes as part of the FRA's commitment to consolidating financial inclusion concepts across the Republic in line with "Egypt Vision 2030" and its approach based on balancing the prosperity of activities with market participants' protection and awareness of all parties' rights and obligations, aiming to increase the non-banking financial sector's contribution to the national economy.

These events gain special importance given the exceptional weight enjoyed by Alexandria as the second-largest governorate in terms of volume and diversity of economic activities after the capital, the steady expansion in its markets—especially at the level of small and micro enterprises—and its status as a vital hub for service, logistical, and commercial activities linked to heavy and food industries, maritime transport, and imports/exports.

The events reflect the growing cooperation between state institutions, represented by the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) and Alexandria Governorate, to raise the level of financial literacy and awareness, demonstrate how to safely and consciously choose and deal with non-banking financial service providers, outline protection mechanisms for participants across various activities, support business owners in developing and expanding their businesses, and present a broad package of insurance and financing solutions tailored to diverse activities and needs.

Dr. Eslam Azzam, Chairman of the Authority, is paying a visit to the Alexandria Governorate Headquarters, where he will join Governor Eng. Ayman Attia in meeting members of the House of Representatives and the Senate, as well as representatives of the business community, chambers of commerce, federations, companies, and associations operating in the sector. The meeting will discuss prospects for expanding and deepening non-banking financial activities in Alexandria, available growth opportunities, encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship, existing challenges and ways to overcome them, as well as highlighting key new decisions issued by the FRA and their intended impact on markets to raise product and service quality and strengthen early risk detection mechanisms.

Dr. Eslam Azzam will also be hosted by Alexandria University in an open meeting with faculty members and students addressing the present and future of the non-banking financial sector in Egypt, key developments and newly introduced mechanisms in the stock exchange, investment funds, insurance, and non-banking finance, alongside the most prominent decisions issued recently to ensure the protection of market participants and keep pace with their needs.

The agenda includes the inauguration of the "Capacity Building to Enhance Development" exhibition for non-banking financial services at Alexandria Stadium, which will be open to the public to build bridges of communication between citizens and companies offering insurance, SME and micro-finance, consumer finance, financial leasing, factoring, and real estate finance services.

The FRA is organizing the exhibition in cooperation with Alexandria Governorate, with extensive participation from specialized federations in the sectors under its supervision and a large number of companies active in the capital market, investment funds, insurance, and non-banking finance. The aim is to present services to the Alexandrian public, introduce the latest products to meet growing needs, help develop small, medium, and micro enterprises, and highlight safe investment vehicles and channels operating under the full supervision of the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA).

In the context of promoting and spreading financial literacy among citizens, Dr. Mohamed Abdel Aziz, Assistant Chairman of the Authority, will deliver an introductory lecture during the exhibition at Alexandria Stadium on activities subject to the FRA's supervision, safe and conscious methods to benefit from financing and insurance services—especially through increasing fintech solutions in the Egyptian market—how to combat fraud and negative market practices, and the foundations for sound financial decision-making, positively impacting citizens' standard of living and economic contribution.

Additionally, the National Council for Women will host a number of FRA leaders and the Central Administration for Financial Awareness and Culture in an open session with women under the "I Invest" initiative for financial literacy. The session will cover capital market activities, investment funds, insurance, non-banking finance, financial leasing, factoring, and the Collateral Registry, highlighting the role these activities play in shifting from saving to investment and production, as well as the pathways launched by the FRA to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship.
