Dr. Islam Azzam, Chairman of the Authority:

  • An important step to bring services closer and enhance communication with investors and market participants
  • Keen on delivering FRA services to all parts of the Republic, streamlining procedures, and diversifying communication channels
  • The non-banking financial sector in Alexandria possesses a significant strategic weight and enjoys potentials that qualify it for further prosperity
  • The office provides the service of receiving applications related to corporate finance procedures and follow-up
  • Alexandria representation office is the springboard for establishing FRA offices in other governorates as part of the expansion and outreach plan

Dr. Islam Azzam, Chairman of the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA), inaugurated the Authority's representation office in Alexandria Governorate at the Investors Service Center headquarters in the Amreya Free Zone, with the participation of the Governor of Alexandria, Eng. Ayman Attia, and Major General Yasser Abbas, Vice Chairman of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI).

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Dr. Tarek Seif, Vice Chairman of the Financial Regulatory Authority, Dr. Mohamed Abdel Aziz and Dr. Rehab Taha, Assistants to the Chairman of the Authority, alongside a number of FRA leaders, department directors, and officials from Alexandria Governorate and GAFI.

The inauguration ceremony took place at the beginning of the "Capacity Building for Sustainable Development" conference, organized by the FRA in Alexandria under the patronage of His Excellency the Prime Minister, Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, to introduce, expand, and deepen non-banking financial activities and increase their developmental contribution.

The Alexandria office is the first of its kind affiliated with the Financial Regulatory Authority outside Cairo, established pursuant to Prime Minister Decree No. (4049) of 2025 concerning the establishment of branches and representation offices for the Authority, alongside a branch in the Financial District in the New Administrative Capital, and two representation offices in Suez and Qena Governorates.

Dr. Islam Azzam, Chairman of the Authority, stated that the inauguration of the Alexandria representation office represents the starting point for establishing FRA offices in other governorates within the Authority's plan to bring services closer and enhance communication with investors and market participants.

He emphasized the FRA's keenness to extend its services across all parts of the Republic, streamline procedures, and diversify communication channels, balancing physical presence at representation offices and branches with facilitating official correspondence and submitting applications and documents via modern technology to save time, effort, and costs for the Authority, investors, and the public.

Dr. Islam Azzam explained that the non-banking financial sector in Alexandria Governorate holds significant qualitative weight and possesses great potential for further prosperity in capital market, insurance, and non-banking financing activities. This comes in light of Alexandria's status as Egypt's second-largest city in terms of volume and diversity of economic activities after Cairo, its steadily expanding markets, and its role as a vital hub for service, logistical, and commercial activities linked to heavy industries, food processing, maritime transport, and import/export.

The Chairman of the Authority noted that the office will provide services for receiving applications related to corporate financing procedures, such as capital increases and follow-ups, with plans to progressively expand the services offered through it.

For his part, the Governor of Alexandria, Eng. Ayman Attia, welcomed the inauguration of the Financial Regulatory Authority's representation office in the Alexandria Free Zone, emphasizing the importance of continuous engagement with local and foreign investors, as well as the vital role played by the Free Zone in attracting investments and encouraging projects across the industrial and logistics service sectors.

The Governor pointed out that the Free Zone and its Investors Service Center constitute one of the vital economic pillars in the governorate for supporting productive sectors, increasing exports, and creating job opportunities. He underscored the governorate's commitment to creating an attractive investment environment and strengthening cooperation with various regulatory and governmental authorities, adding that incorporating services related to non-banking financial activities represents a qualitative leap in this framework.

On his part, Major General Yasser Abbas, Vice Chairman of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), praised the opening of the Financial Regulatory Authority's office at the Investors Service Center, which currently houses offices for nearly 35 ministries and authorities and serves thousands of companies and investors across various sectors in Alexandria, Beheira, and Matrouh governorates. He noted that it contributes to streamlining the investor journey from incorporation to production and pumping returns into the Egyptian market.

The Vice Chairman of GAFI emphasized that the office's opening is a major addition to the Investors Service Center and to the facilities provided to companies across various non-banking financial activities, under the long-standing partnership between the FRA and GAFI to advance these activities and maximize their contribution to the national economy.
