At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim, President of the University, expressed the university's pride in this cooperation and the necessity of building upon it to instill a financial culture among students, increase employment opportunities, and boost innovation rates, in line with the Egyptian state's directions towards financial inclusion.
The University President explained the importance of awareness-raising meetings that link academic knowledge with practical developments in financial markets, enabling students to learn about the opportunities provided by the non-banking financial sector in the fields of investment, financing, and insurance.
During the lecture, Dr. Islam Azzam discussed the types of non-banking financial activities, the regulatory and supervisory role of the Authority in accordance with the Constitution, and how to benefit from the services and products offered in capital markets, insurance, and non-banking financing—especially for youth and women—alongside the pathways sponsored by the Authority to support innovation and the use of financial technology to keep pace with market developments and growing needs.
He also reviewed the regulatory developments and newly introduced mechanisms in financial markets and their role in supporting the national economy and opening new horizons for youth to participate in economic activity, pointing to some prominent developments such as investment funds and carbon markets.
The FRA Chairman spoke about its role in achieving a balance between developing markets, enhancing their efficiency, and protecting the rights of dealers, addressing the operating mechanisms of companies and entities operating in non-banking financing activities, and the prominent developments witnessed by the markets, including efforts to develop insurance and financing services to meet customer needs and expand the scope of benefiting from non-banking financial services.
The meeting touched upon the most prominent regulatory decisions recently issued by the Authority, which aim to raise the quality of financial products and services, enhance transparency and governance, develop risk management mechanisms, and ensure that dealers obtain the necessary information to make conscious financial and investment decisions, alongside keeping pace with technological developments and market needs.
Dr. Islam Azzam emphasized the importance of concerted efforts between the Authority, federations, universities, and academies to spread financial culture among youth and children, introducing them to the opportunities offered by non-banking financial activities, which helps them understand the mechanisms of saving, investing, financing, and insurance, enhances their ability to make sound financial decisions, and supports their contribution to the national economy with more ideas, innovations, and entrepreneurial projects.
The organization of this meeting comes within the framework of the Financial Regulatory Authority's efforts to spread financial awareness among various segments of society and enhance cooperation with educational institutions and universities, contributing to the preparation of a generation more aware of financial markets and capable of capitalizing on investment opportunities, in alignment with Egypt's Vision 2030 and the state's directions towards enhancing financial inclusion.
