Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad, participated on Friday in an event organized by the World Bank titled “Mobilizing Private Capital for Responsible Mineral Development.” During his address, he reviewed opportunities to enhance the role of private finance in developing Egypt's minerals sector, as well as efforts undertaken to attract investments and maximize the utilization of mineral wealth, thereby contributing to transforming mineral resources into sustainable economic growth, fostering manufacturing, and creating job opportunities.
In his speech, the Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized the high-level state attention devoted to the mining sector. He explained that convening the Egypt Mining Forum in September 2026 reflects the Egyptian state's commitment, under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to developing the mining sector and maximizing the leverage of mineral resources. This is being achieved through creating an attractive investment climate, encouraging international partnerships, and adopting modern technologies, which together contribute to increasing the added value of natural resources, supporting the national economy, and achieving sustainable development.
Furthermore, the Minister outlined the legislative and institutional reforms implemented by the state to develop the sector and foster a more investment-friendly environment. He stressed the importance of sustaining these reforms to translate promising mineral potential into productive investments and added value that drives sustainable economic growth.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs also underscored the significance of partnership with the World Bank Group and international financial institutions to mobilize funding, provide necessary guarantees for bankable projects, develop infrastructure, and enhance the participation of local companies in mining value chains. He reiterated readiness to collaborate with development partners and investors to advance the mining sector in a manner that achieves industrial development, generates employment opportunities, and supports the national economy.
