Rana Mamdouh _ The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) and MINT, the business incubator of the Egyptian Gulf Bank (EGBANK), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at fostering joint cooperation to support the fintech ecosystem in Egypt, develop investment awareness among youth and entrepreneurs, and open new horizons for startups to learn about capital markets and growth and expansion opportunities.
The protocol was signed by Ibrahim Abaza, First Deputy CEO of the Egyptian Gulf Bank, and Omar Radwan, Chairman of the Egyptian Exchange.
This cooperation stems from the two institutions' shared vision regarding the importance of empowering the new generation of entrepreneurs and investors by combining the Egyptian Exchange's expertise in capital markets with MINT by EGBANK's role in supporting youth, entrepreneurship, and developing the startup ecosystem in Egypt.
The partnership includes a joint program based on two main pillars: the MINT × EGX Hackathon, and a series of specialized training courses in financial literacy, which contribute to building youth capacities, enhancing their understanding of financial and investment concepts, and encouraging innovation in the fintech field.
The financial literacy pillar, delivered by MINT by EGBANK in cooperation with the Egyptian Exchange—which provides the specialized content—aims to instill concepts of financial independence and conscious money management, familiarize participants with proper and regulated investment mechanisms and methods, and link them to career development and financial stability.
The awareness courses also highlight the importance of financial literacy in empowering individuals and youth to handle challenges while planning to achieve their long-term financial goals.
On the other hand, the "MINT × EGX" Hackathon focuses on two main tracks: investment and trading, with the aim of stimulating startups to develop innovative solutions that respond to the needs of the capital market.
Selected startups will also have the opportunity to benefit from a networking and mentoring track with the Egyptian Exchange, which will provide the necessary guidance on relevant fields and associated regulatory requirements, supporting their understanding of the regulated capital market environment and helping them explore development and growth opportunities.
This partnership reflects the two institutions' commitment to enhancing integration between the banking sector, capital markets, and the entrepreneurship ecosystem by making financial and investment knowledge accessible to youth, encouraging innovation, and supporting the development of technological solutions that contribute to the growth of the Egyptian financial sector.
Through this cooperation, the Egyptian Exchange and MINT by EGBANK seek to build sustainable bridges between entrepreneurs and capital markets, enhancing the new generation's readiness to participate in the economy, supporting the growth of the fintech ecosystem, and contributing to the creation of new investment and innovation opportunities in Egypt.
