Habi_ The Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, has called for an immediate and comprehensive cessation of acts of war, combat, destruction, and sabotage, as well as the formation of an urgent mediation and de-escalation committee comprising representatives from various Arab and Islamic countries to defuse crises and conflicts, bridge perspectives, and end disputes.
In a post on his official Facebook page, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar stated: "From Arab Egypt, and from the heart of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, we issue an urgent fraternal appeal to all brothers across our Arab and Islamic nations, emphasizing the necessity of prioritizing the spirit of brotherhood, the bonds of religion, blood, and language, elevating the voice of wisdom, resorting to reason and dialogue, and achieving an immediate and comprehensive cessation of all acts of war, combat, destruction, and sabotage that drain the resources of peoples and claim the lives of innocent people."
He called for the formation of an urgent mediation and de-escalation committee comprising representatives from various Arab and Islamic countries, consisting of rational individuals, sincere wise figures, and advocates of goodness, peace, and stability, based on the Almighty's saying: "And if two factions among the believers should fight, then make settlement between the two," from Surah Al-Hujurat, Verse 9.
He explained that the committee shall urgently undertake the task of defusing inflamed crises and conflicts, bridging perspectives, and ending existing disputes among the members of the single religion and the single nation, in a manner that preserves the strength and sovereignty of Arabs, safeguards the blood of their children, and protects the resources of their peoples and future generations.
The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar affirmed Al-Azhar Al-Sharif's readiness to exert its utmost efforts to support the committee's endeavors, expressing confidence in the wisdom of the parties and their ability to overcome differences and turn the page on the past, in order to spare blood, preserve the lives of the innocent, and prioritize the public interest.
The Grand Imam concluded his prayers by asking God to protect the Arab and Islamic nation from all harm and evil, and to spare the region the scourges of wars and conflicts.
