Reuters – The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office in Istanbul stated in a statement on Wednesday that Turkish prosecutors have ordered the detention of 31 suspects as part of an investigation concerning stock transactions involving four companies listed on the stock exchange.
The state-run Anadolu Agency reported that 26 of them have been detained.
The statement indicated that the investigation came following reports and written complaints submitted by the Capital Markets Board of Turkey to the prosecution, which led to the examination of transactions related to the shares of four named companies, namely: Işıklar Enerji Yapı Holding, Vişne Madencilik, Odin Solutions, and Tera Finansal Yatırımlar Holding.
This step constitutes the latest development in a broad-ranging investigation initiated into Turkey's investment fund sector, dozens of which were ordered to be liquidated last month.
Shares of three of the mentioned companies—Işıklar Enerji, Vişne Madencilik, and Tera Finansal Yatırımlar Holding—witnessed sharp declines in Wednesday's trading sessions, whereas the shares of Odin Solutions recorded an increase.
