Engineer Khaled Hashem, Minister of Industry, held an expanded meeting with a delegation from the Brazilian Association for the Tooling and Machining Industry (ABINFER), headed by Cristian Delman, President of the Association and President of the International Special Tooling and Machining Association (ISTMA), to discuss ways to transfer technology and technical expertise in mold and die manufacturing to Egyptian factories.
The meeting reviewed the activities of the Brazilian Association for the Tooling and Machining Industry in advancing the die industry in Brazil by adopting the latest technologies and expertise, utilizing Japanese expertise in this field, alongside training and motivating workers. It also discussed the possibility of transferring these experiences and technology to the Egyptian market and studying the establishment of a specialized vocational school to qualify Egyptian cadres.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister emphasized that the Ministry of Industry attaches utmost importance to the mold and die industry, considering it one of the most important complementary industries in the Egyptian Industrial Strategy 2030, the backbone of all engineering and manufacturing sectors, and a benchmark for industrial progress in any country. He pointed out that possessing advanced technology in local mold design and manufacturing, expertise, and skilled labor will contribute to reducing the import bill, increasing value added and the local component percentage, and enhancing the regional and international competitiveness of Egyptian products.
Hashem added that the Ministry is keen to provide all forms of support to the Association and the Molds and Dies Division to transfer Brazilian and Japanese expertise to Egyptian industry and enhance cooperation with the Productivity and Vocational Training Department to provide a training center for the mold and die industry, creating a new generation of skilled labor in this field that helps build a strong and sustainable industrial base meeting the needs of the local market and opening new horizons for export.
The Minister stated that Egypt has ambitious goals to increase industrial production and exports abroad, and the mold and die industry will play a major role in meeting manufacturers' needs for these essential production supplies, a large portion of which are currently imported. He pointed out that expanding mold and die manufacturing in Egypt will contribute to increasing Egypt's exports of them to various markets in the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.
For his part, Cristian Delman, President of the Brazilian Association for the Tooling and Machining Industry (ABINFER) and President of the International Special Tooling and Machining Association (ISTMA), reviewed Brazil's experience in the mold and die industry, the challenges it faces, and the Association's efforts to overcome them through a comprehensive program to upgrade the sector, qualify human cadres, improve operational efficiency, and encourage manufacturers to inject investments into this promising sector.
He noted that the Association has contributed to qualifying a large number of technical schools for training in die manufacturing, as the establishment of a specialized vocational school for this industry in Egypt will contribute to the rapid transfer of expertise and the development of the skills of Egyptian technical cadres. He pointed out that the delegation visited the Productivity and Vocational Training Department and praised its training capabilities.
