Egyptian Exchange Sets Trading Start Date for Banque du Caire and Share Stabilization Mechanism

Egyptian Exchange Sets Trading Start Date for Banque du Caire and Share Stabilization Mechanism

Cairo – Mubasher: The Operations Committee at the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) has decided to list the shares of Banque du Caire in the moderately active market, which includes securities whose traders are permitted to utilize same-day trading mechanisms, T+1 trading, and margin trading, and are accepted as collateral up to 80% of their market value.

In a statement issued today, the EGX stated that trading on Banque du Caire's shares will commence as of the trading session on Monday, 02/11/2026, provided that the opening price (reference price) for the share shall be the public and private offering price of EGP 5.30 per share.

It was also decided that the price limits for the share, both upward and downward, on the first trading day shall be double the price limits applied to the market in which the share is listed (40%), without applying temporary suspension mechanisms, until the end of the trading session in which a new closing price is recorded. As of the following trading session, the price limits for the share shall be according to what is applied in the market where it is listed.

The EGX clarified that regarding the price stabilization mechanism for the public offering in the market following the offering, the Special Order Book (OPR) market shall be opened for a period of thirty calendar days starting from 2/11/2026 until 1/12/2026, during which the offering manager is obligated to place an open buy order at the offering price. Shareholders who wish to sell and were buyers in the public offering only shall have the right to place sell orders up to a maximum number of shares allocated to the willing seller through the public offering.

It noted that it is a condition for the shares offered for sale that they were purchased through the public offering on its execution date on the exchange, and were retained or are remaining therefrom. Brokerage firms are prohibited from placing sell orders except after verifying this according to the client's balance statement and account statement from Misr for Central Clearing, Depository and Registry (MCDR), as sell orders for shares purchased from the open market will not be accepted.

It continued: The central depository and registry company shall match the orders recorded in the Special Order Book market with the conditions set forth in this clause and notify the Egyptian Exchange of any non-compliant orders. The EGX shall cancel the non-compliant orders or allow brokerage firms, at a time it specifies, to cancel such orders. At the end of the period, all validly recorded sell orders that comply with the conditions set forth in this clause shall be executed, noting that in the event of non-compliance with the foregoing, the EGX reserves the right to take whatever measures it deems necessary against violators."
