FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Who licenses electronic payment companies in Egypt?
The Central Bank of Egypt licenses payment service providers and payment systems under Central Bank and Banking Sector Law No. 194 of 2020, while the Financial Regulatory Authority regulates FinTech in non-banking financial activities under Law No. 5 of 2022.
What does a FinTech company need before launching its service?
It needs to identify the correct regulatory category for the service, meet the capital, information security and anti-money-laundering requirements, and obtain the right approval or licence before operating. We assist with all of this, including bank partnerships and the terms of use.
Can a service be tested before obtaining a full licence?
In some cases regulators offer regulatory sandboxes for testing innovative solutions under specific conditions. We assess whether your project is eligible and prepare the application.
What services do you provide to banks and financial institutions?
We provide regulatory advice, draft cooperation agreements with FinTech companies and service providers, review compliance and customer data protection policies, and represent clients in banking disputes.
